Stevenage Postbox Knitters
After breakfast I had a walk along the High Street to see what has changed since my last visit. Perhaps most startlingly the still vacant half of the former Waitrose store building is being taken over by Austin’s, the long established (and very successful) local funeral directors. There are no vacant units elsewhere on the “old town” High Street, in stark contrast to the “new town” town centre which is having some difficulty adapting to a rapidly changing world.
The postbox outside “Camera World” (in my youth the building was the General Post Office building, it’s been a camera shop for many years) hosts the local post office knitters creations. This one, in aid of the British Heart Foundation, has a Valentine’s Day theme.
