Gillaburn Snowdrops
Showers this morning, but cleared into a beautiful sunny day. More showers this evening. Mostly a gentle wind all day.
Up early and a morning around the house. After the rain cleared, I got washing out and walkies with Sammy. More walkies in the afternoon. Eve arrived home today. I met mam, Laura, Eve and Elise for a cuppa in Lerwick. Mam gets her operation tomorrow, good to see her looking well today. A steady evening working in the shop. More walkies, then feet up. Sad news from yesterday, a brutal murder here in Shetland, seems to be a Canadian couple with local connections. Heart goes out to the families affected by it at such a sad time.
As the days start to get longer, hope of spring isn't far away now. Starting to see signs of life returning to the landscape, daffodil bulbs popping their heads up, I saw crocuses almost in bloom, buds on bushes and then snowdrops making an appearance. My snowdrops are slowly coming up, but not as far on as these ones. As I walked by, there was a carpet of them across the lawn. They are such cheerful peerie flowers, and look so delicate for our harsh climate, but they do amazingly well here. Taken at Gillaburn, Stromfirth.
