A stressful day after a very gentle start. Stopped for a walk at Te Wai Orea, which is where I had my first good view of a Masked Lapwing, self introduced from Australia. Australians named this a Spur-winged Plover, until discovering that a bird in South America is called that. Hence the name (since accepted in New Zealand as well).
