The Stream in the Sky
After leaving Rowen mid morning we took a diversion up into Snowdonia, turning left at Betws Y Coed and heading steadily downhill towards Llangollen, although that wasn't the destination.
A little further is a pretty well known wonder of the (UK) waterways - Pontcysyllte Aqueduct - which unfortunately for us & other visitors on the day was closed for repair work. Fortunately of course for boaters and canal users going forward, Canal River Trust often use the quieter winter months to carry out maintenance on the system such as Lock Gate replacement and more involving jobs.
There is a short walk leading over 100ft down to the River Dee below that affords some dramatic views of the structure, including a well placed 'Plate Camera' esq model that you can sit your own camera inside to snap a photo.
After yomping back up to Trevor village a coffee was enjoyed in a lovely nearby tearoom before continuing home to catch up with everyone, including a visit to see Mother In Law in hospital :-)
