ICELAND DAY 7

After the disappointment of missing the Northern Lights The Rev decided he wanted to try the whale watching.
# It was an early start after our long day and a chilly dark walk to the harbour but once I got on my cosy ski suit on and a hot chocolate all was good :)))
#we were so lucky we saw 3 whales (apparently 2 is a good day)…they swam and dived around our boat for about an hour. We even saw one breach (leap right out the sea). I took lots of film but captured this photo!!!
#The Rev did give in to the cold and donned a long waterproof coat….giving off cosy vibes.
#afterwards we had a coffee and a read by the harbour with a fabulous view of the blue sky and white mountains.
Then we went back to the hotel so tired. The Rev went for a snooze and I went with J & S to the museum next door.
#This is the oldest house in Reykjavik that has been a shop, and Indian restaurant, a gay bar and a hairdressers…now it’s a museum. Under the hotel 2 buildings along they discovered an old house in 2001 that dated back to 10th century. Always amazes me how it wasn’t discovered before!! The museum was very interesting but I was so tired I fell asleep watching a film about the history of Iceland:)))) I did the last bit quickly and headed back to join The Rev!!!!
# Later we met up with a colleague of mine from school who arrived today to start her Icelandic adventure. We had a drink in the Sky Bar where we started a week ago. Then went for a tasty pizza meal followed by…
#Ice cream at our hotel…then back for the last of our holiday puzzle, a glass of Baileys and an early night!!!
