Camping in the jungle
We went on a walk to a families plot ont he other side of the river where we made sugar cane juice! They had a great contraption that squeezed the canes, with one person pushing the canes through, and the others pushing a giant lever around and around to turn all of the cogs. We made a whole bucket of juice from 5 cane s- which they then mixed with Lemon and grapefruit juice - delicious! There were grapefruit trees there, with the biggest and most delicious grapefruits I have ever seen - more like melons in size!!
We then decided that we would go camp in the jungle for one night - so we set off with sleeping maps, sleeping bags and mossi nets tied onto our backpacks! We walked for 4 hours to the camp, which was 2 big tarps hung over a pretty simple frame - one being the kitchen (of course be brought the chef along!) and the other being our sleeping area. We strung up the mossi nets and made our little camp, and came back to the kitchen to find the cook in full swing - he made amazing food over a wood camp fire!
We went for a night walk, but unfortunately due to the (very pretty) full moon, not many animals were out - it was too light! We sat and waited while our guide claimed to be listening to a jaguar, but it never came so off to bed we went at 9pm!
