Jump!
I know this is an awful photo. The only thing to be said for it is that it captured me jumping into our pool for the first time in 2013. Which we didn't expect to do because we didn't expect to have any access to our pool.
So, hooray.
Pools are odd. They are (rightly) described as the epitomy of luxurious living. They are huge, complicated, standing masses of water which cannot go unattended. They might need chlorine, bromide, oxygenation, ph +,ph-, anti-algicide, shock!!!!, all sorts of intervention which is, often, frankly, rather alarming. Like a baby, they need constant, methodical calming.. They are also subject to the fall-out from storms, Sahara blasts, tornados, chilly winds, too much sun, too little sun, small dead reptiles, butterflies, wasps, crickets, aphids, caterpillars and lots of leaves.
They're a bit of a nightmare.
But today we had a perfect 2 or 3 hours beside our beautiful pale bluey-green sapphire pool. The water was too cold to really enjoy being in it for too long, but it was a joy to jump in, gasp, wade down to the steps and revel in the joy of being in our very own, exquisite, seductive pool. There's nothing quite like it.
