Padstow
We had booked a Valentine dinner at a local restaurant in Newquay for tonight, but they rang us last night to cancel due to a family emergency. What a shame for them :-(
We had already decided to go to Padstow today, and MrHCB, being quick off the mark, managed to get us a booking for a late lunch at Rick Stein's flagship seafood restaurant, which was excellent!
It's 14 miles from Newquay to Padstow, but we went on the bus which takes 1h20m and is more like a magical mystery tour of every village up the coast. We peered into everyone's gardens, oohed and aahed at the tiny lambs in some fields and rows and rows of daffodils in other fields. We spotted several beaches to revisit in warmer weather and ancient pubs to try anytime. Padstow was as lively as ever with families on half term breaks. A thoroughly enjoyable day out.
