Gaia
A floating revolving internally lit sculpture in Tewkesbury Abbey showing the beauty of the earth created by UK artist Luke Jerram giving what is called the 'overview effect'. Gaia is the personification of the Earth in Greek mythology.
The 'overview effect' has been described as the experience of the astronauts giving then a feeling of awe for our planet and "a profound understanding of the interconnection of life and renewed sense of responsibility for taking care of the environment." A beautiful and precious place.
A staggering 7m diameter created from 120dpi NASA imagery where each centimetre equals 18km of the earth's surface. 1.8m times smaller than the real thing.
The surround sound has been created by the BAFT award winning composer Dan Jones.
Note I chose Africa to feature in my shot this morning.
Well worth a visit as it travels round.
