Clayton Tunnel North Portal
I last blipped this back in April when the foliage was not very green and the light was sub optimal. I wanted to come back and try again when the light was better. I checked the Photographer's Ephemeris to find out when the portal would be in sunlight. As the portal faces North, it turned out that it only gets sunlight for a very few days a year - today was such a day. Unfortunately that meant an early (04:50) start and, effectively, a dawn shoot.
Well here's the result - the foliage and the portal were caught in the early morning sun with some pretty long shadows. It's difficult to get a decent colour balance because the portal is constructed of a light coloured stone and the surroundings are darker.
All in all a rather challenging subject - so this is my best attempt (at least for another year!).
