Begonia
Today we got to know a fair bit of Christchurch mainly by walking all over it. First we headed for the botanical gardens - so beautiful with the Avon River running through it, a spectacular round rose garden planted in concentric circles, a greenhouse and always my favourite, a begonia house. My main is from there, my extra is in Victoria Park, another beautiful spot.
We had a delicious lunch at OGM (Old Government Building) accompanied by an excellent pinot noir from Martinborough, one of the only two locations in the world from which I will drink wine from this grape (the other being Central Otago).
Christchurch is a lot about its trams. We took a hop on hop off one which took us to many of the parts we'd covered on foot, plus a bit extra. The devastation from the earthquake 13 years ago remains evident, although a lot of reparation has been and continues to be done.
Thanks for hosting BikerBear. Have a fab weekend blippers all.
