Chilly by the Hun River

Shen yang means the sunny side of the river Shen (as opposed to Yin which would be the dark side ) The river has had its name changed to the Hun and as the sun didn't come out and the temperature was -15C you have to imagine what this river walk would be like in hot summer.
It was the first time I have experienced a river frozen solid, right across. Going for a walk beside it and then on it was fun.
Chris says in summer the water level drops and there are sandbars where people fish but when he accidentally fell in, his skin started itching. Perhaps there is more meat on two headed fish. 
Having said that, Shen yang was a heavily industrial town not so long ago but much of the heavy industry has closed down so its air and water are slowly improving.



Chinese beds do not have mattresses, just boards with a rug or two over them. This will take some getting used to.
