The Odd Couple
A pair of grey herons is nesting quite close to the Wildlife Discovery Centre at Fishers Green. A first I think. They usually build their nests in a heronry near a pylon not that far away. The local gulls aren't happy and keep dive-bombing them. I hope they go on to lay and raise young. I'd love to get images of the chicks.
The bird, which I think might be the female, looks like a sub-adult to me. Females have shorter aigrets than males but this one hasn't got a plume at all.
