Holiday

Today we set sail for England. It was the first time my wife has been to England since 2018, and only my second visit in the same time too - having visited my father and friends briefly in the spring. We couldn't take the overnight ferry as we'd hoped as it was booked so instead we took a daytime sailing, so the main picture is Saint-Malo in the morning on the way out.

My wife has been working for Brittany Ferries this summer, so her crossing and cabin was free, and we had a four berth cabin with a window rather than the more typical two berth and no window we normally pay for. We were also invited onto the bridge to meet the captain and watch the ship depart Saint-Malo and berth in Portsmouth, which was fun.

We had the whole day to explore the MV Bretagne, which is my favourite ship in the Brittany Ferries fleet, even though it's getting old and will soon be replaced by the MV Saint-Malo. The weather was pretty nice, and sunny and we were able to spend a few hours out on the deck sitting in the sun.

The extras are the front of the superstructure, the name high up on the side and the Gwenn-Ha-Du flag flying on the bow.
