Vintage ploughing match

The recent very wet weather has caused a few delays to the local Vintage tractor group’s ploughing match but thankfully today conditions were perfect and the field had dried up.

By the time I arrived in the afternoon most of the competitors had finished and tractors were parked up waiting for the decision of the judges. I had a good catch up with old friends and was particularly impressed by the ploughing of a young lad whose grandfather is one of these friends. 

He used to ride in the back of the cab but now he has learned the skill himself and looked likely to win the junior section despite the plough swinging to the side a bit on the slope as he started his final furrow spoiling the lovely straight line.
