Fresh air
It was gloomy and damp (again) but very mild, so I took J for a walk round the village. We are trying to ensure she gets outside more regularly, and although she is not a great fan of the outdoors, I think she is gradually realising that she does respond quite well to fresh air and often sleeps better when she has been out. We looked at all the bright flowers now in bloom in other people's gardens, and particularly liked these pretty miniature daffodils, which always remind us of my mum; she loved them, an enthusiasm J shares.
Our day was substantially disrupted by a visit from a BT engineer, which continued for several more hours than anticipated but proved extremely worthwhile. It was scheduled in response to BT's automatic checks, which had identified a fault with our line. There are plenty of problems with our telephone and broadband connections, but we were not aware of anything different from usual. However, the pleasant, patient and thorough engineer identified issues with the line into the house (previously denied by BT) and with mess of internal wiring we inherited here (along with the mess of electrical wiring and plumbing - one of the consequences of buying a house for the view!). As a result of his work our broadband speed has doubled and we should no longer lose the internet connection whenever the landline rings - yay!
