Old
Confession - this is an old photo taken at a living history exhibition a wee while ago.
It’s an old photo as I’ve been asleep most of today thanks to a cold.
It was chosen for a good reason though.
Today Lyle’s announced that they’re rebranding their golden syrup packaging - the first redesign since 1883.
As such, this design is soon to be a thing of the past and it will be replaced with a stylised lion’s head and a single bee.
A little more cheerful but a lot less memorable.
It’s quite sad that such an enduring piece of design is being replaced - I can remember my mum telling me the story of the lion and the bees when I was a child and asked her about the picture on the syrup can.
So whilst I could have taken a new photo today - probably my kindle and a mug of Lemsip - I’m kind of glad I didn’t; sometimes old things are better.
