Chinese Jade

Liaoning Provincial Museum in Shen yang has a big collection of Jade pieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368- 1910) that traces the development of style, intricacy and subject in this most beautiful of mediums. I spent a happy morning wandering around the exhibits enjoying the exquisite craftsmanship and the symbolism of the carvings.
This small bowl is held floating in clump of lotus blossoms, signifying joy and re-birth, as the plant grows from  mud into beauty and light .
