Batik Printing Blocks

A still rainy day found us continuing our visits to San Diego area museums during Museum Month's half-price promotion. We chose a couple of Balboa Park's more than two dozen museums to increase our cultural awareness. I was fascinated by the intricate copper patterns created on the more than two hundred Batik printing blocks on display from Indonesia at the Mingei International Museum. Shown here is just a small sampling of this incredible craftsmanship.
