Centre Stage

Going to work this morning, past York Place .... not sure if this guy was confused over his place of work given that he was 'performing' outside The Stand Comedy Club (just out of shot), but he did bring a laugh.

Over the past seven years I have witnessed first hand the attempt to install a new tram system in the centre of Edinburgh. We've seen traffic diversions from hell, holes in the road where guys were working so deep their eyes couldn't see above the parapet, something akin to modern day chain gangs, a down tools for months on end because Edinburgh Council got their sums wrong and still the traffic gets diverted to a different, never been used before route at the drop of a hat! So, when do we get to use the trams? No date set yet although apparently the project is nearing completion! I see the trams every day, lined up and ready to go from the brand spanking new tram depot. However, they've been there for so long, I'm concerned there'll soon be a rust problem, or at the very least, the warrantee will expire.

Anyway, back to York Place and the guys that are obviously keen to keep smiling and get the job of laying the tramlines done - thanks for putting a smile on our faces this morning guys.
