La Oliva walking

The last day of guided walking, we bussed it to Tindaya a small farming community overshadowed by Montaña Sagrada de Tindaya which we did not climb. Instead we made for the coast crossing the vast desert landscape which reminded me of the Meseta on the Camino, only this lasted for about a couple of hours rather than 7 days. We stopped for elevenses at the top of a ravine, a certain amount of nifty scrambling got us to the bottom of the barranco, tufts of greenery and a small stream of water that eventually led to the sea made this a spectacular walk. We had lunch on Playa de Esquino, (extra) a surf beach, most of us paddled before climbing up the cliff, which was quite straight forward, and into much cloudier, chillier, windy weather. We were thoroughly soaked by mile nine and we speeded up considerably to reach El Cotillo where we dried out a bit in a bar until it was time for the bus.
