Ringtail

The Hen Harrier is the most intensely persecuted of all the UK's birds of prey. It was much further away than I would have liked, in very overcast conditions,  but hey, this my fellow Blippers, is a female Hen Harrier (a Ringtail) photographed on the Somerset Levels this afternoon.  

There was also a male, but it didn't even get this close and it was raining so I don't have a shot of it that is at all good - but I've put it up as an extra and as a record shot.  I don't expect there's going to be that many days when I get to see and photograph both the male and female Hen Harriers..
