IT'S FLOWER FRIDAY
Yes, it is Flower Friday but, as I have mentioned the last few Fridays, it's winter here and flowers are hard to find........unless you want to purchase a few at the flower store. So....AIRPLANES it is.

The USAF is taking advantage of the beautiful weather we've been having lately thanks to a nice high pressure dome sitting over the state and keeping the really cold air up in Canada where it belongs. If I remember last night's TV weather forecast correctly, somewhere in the western Canadian provinces yesterday's HIGH temperature was -33°F. (-36°C.). Here it was a balmy 60°F. (15.5°C.). So they scheduled a nice flight of a C17 Globemaster III using Road America as one of their targeting sites.

We have a retired Air Force General living in our area and he works with the track to schedule military fly-overs on big race weekends. No races this week but the pilots have to get in their hours so this was a perfect day for a little exercise. They have a locating beacon on top of the Media Tower at Road America and they get to drop down to a lower than normal altitude, just for a little while, and they just follow this beacon and head to the next one somewhere else and hopefully then homeward. Supper is waiting.

It's not quite 60°s out there today but it's nice enough. Here's everything you want to know about this plane: Boeing C-17 Globemaster III
