Ribblehead
We had a grand day out with our friend Michele, a low level walk round and about the Ribblehead viaduct which can be seen in the distance. The geographical highlight was watching a river disappear beneath the limestone surface rocks and then see it gush out further downstream . The heavy rainfall of previous months meant that the river was in full gushing flow . It’s name, Winterscales Beck , suggests it has a seasonal flow and when we last walked this way, a couple of summers ago, it was merely a thin thread of water revealing all the delights of typical limestone riverbed features which today were obscured by the high water level. The extra shows the river re-emerging .
It was so enjoyable to catch up on family news, thoughts , ideas , books read and films watched. We swapped tales of adventures that we’ve had since our last meet up and discussed a couple of adventures that we are planning to have with the rest of our uni friends . I had wondered if Bramble would cope with the walk as she seems to be struggling more than usual but she did ok . I gave her some food and meds half way round which helped keep the bounce in her paws and the wag in her tail .
After a quick tea of Swedish Pea soup ( I bought 2 Kg of Swedish peas home from our hols ) we had an online call with NC’s brother in order to book a hotel in Leeds for the occasion of Nats 30 th birthday surprise party . It turns out that it’s a bank holiday weekend with a festival event, prices had shot up and it was quite a feat to find a place to stay within the price range. We managed eventually, after a number of frustrating hiccups , 3 brains are better than one it would seem !
May all your weekend s be restorative in what ever way works best for you .
