Fund the fight... Find a cure
Approximately 2 years ago I helped the city of Ferndale recover their post office wall. A group of women got together several times a week and painted replicas of some of the U.S. Postage stamps. I chose 3 different designs.
Tonight after work I went to Ferndale to attend a meeting for the relay for life team I am on. ( cancer walk ) While there I thought I would go to the post office wall and take a picture of one of the stamps I painted. I picked the breast cancer one for today.
The Breast Cancer Research First-Class Semipostal stamp was issued on July 29, 1998 at a first day ceremony held in the White House. It was the first semipostal in U.S. history.
By law, 70 percent of the net amount raised is given to the National Institutes of Health and 30 percent is given to the Medical Research Program at the Department of Defense.
Maybe tomorrow I will go back and take a picture of one of the other Stamps I drew.
It was a fun project with a wonderful group of ladies.
