Busy, Busy
Coffee for breakfast before being picked up at 9:15am and heading out to Devoran. Steve, Epic Chair, and I were heading out to look at a four oared gig or ‘giglet’. If suitable it could prove a useful addition to Epic’s fleet and provide more flexibility in the numbers we can get on the water.
Great bunch of guys at Devoran Gig Workshop, knowledgable, helpful and keen to show us both the ‘giglet’ and skiff, both were available.
The giglet was exactly what we were looking for and we became even happier on hearing the price. Giglet, trailer, oars, cover and pins will soon be on its way to Ponsharden.
Dropped off and changed before heading back to the boatyard for the ‘Epic Midweekers’ row. Blustery with wind and tide combining to make any row venturing towards the harbour as interesting as Sundays so we stuck to the river. I enjoyed my post row coffee with the other rowers at the ‘Golden Arches’, lots of interest in the new ‘giglet’.
Last duty of the day, Sam took herself off to St Ives for a lecture, it finished too late for public transport so Dads Taxi was required. Not so sure Paddy enjoyed the car ride out there but he definitely enjoyed the stroll around a new location.
Today’s photo, the St Ives lifeboat inside the well lit ‘garage’.
