A day out
R picked me up from home at 9 this morning for a trip to Nottingham. She had a hair appointment there and we planned to do some clothes shopping.
We left home in the frosty fog, minus temps, but as we passed the power station cooling towers at Ratcliffe on Soar the the clouds disappeared and we had blue skies for the rest of the day.
Whilst R had her hair appointment I went to M&S for essential purchases and a cup of coffee. We were looking for clothes for the wedding in November. I successfully found and bought a dress which I think will be most suitable for those colder days.
It’s a long time since we have done one of these day’s out and it was great fun. I haven’t followed what’s fashionable in clothing, but there is nothing new in shoes that we saw. Foot fashion goes round in circles, I’ve got a collection of vintage shoes in the cupboard.
It took time to be reminded of the streets of Nottingham. I spent a year doing my district nurse training there in the mid ‘80’s. There are lots of new developments but many of the beautiful old buildings remain and are integrated into the city.
It was 5pm before we arrived home. How I managed to stay on my feet that length of time, goodness only knows. A cup of coffee followed by a sleep on the settee with Amber restored the energy levels.
We saw a march supporting Ukraine, very thought provoking and sad.
