Rare

I noticed this rare visitor in the Gersprenz today. I think it is the Great (Black) Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo). We see them almost never here, although some of them are breeding around Mannheim-Heidelberg (see here, green meaning "breeding").
We do have some fish in the Gersprenz, but usually there is only a couple of centimetres of water. (In the picture you can see that the water level went down by approximately 1 metre quite recently.) Perhaps the renaturation started 20-something years ago is working.
