Honey, Straight from the Comb
We have fantastic neighbours - how many people would give you their very first honey? Well ours did!
This is the first offering from our neighbours' bees, who all survived the winter and are now producing plenty of honey.
As mentioned in my blip on Monday we need to ensure that we look after bees, and our neighbours are doing just that. They have two hives in a village just outside Swindon and were really excited last night when they came home to show us their very first honeycomb.
Hopefully the supers (where the honey is kept in the top of the hives) will be filled with honey by the end of the season and their bees will stay happy and healthy. Look here for more information about honeycombs.
One of my favourite songs is Jesus, Holy and Anointed One which has the line "Your name is like honey on my lips" which is quite appropriate for this blip. Enjoy!
We look forward to our first jar of honey, beeswax candles and polish - watch this space!
