Yorkshire Fog
This is a panicle of Yorkshire Fog (Holcus lanatus. It is the grass that makes great swathes of soft pink that move in the wind and is common across the UK, found in meadows, rough grassland, woodland and on a range of soils.
Best viewed large.
It is one of my favourite grasses (doesn't everyone have a favourite?) but I had not realised until I took this close-up that the spikelets contain so many different colours.
