Back In The Penthouse
We are back in Fowey, second time in the Penthouse (the last time was in 2020). It's still lovely. This is a similar blip, through the kitchen window with the car ferry in the background.
The drive down was not without drama. First off, the Northleach High Street was closed so we had to detour around the top of the town (Kerry & Kurtan territory). Then I got boxed in at the garage when getting some pre M5 petrol. Both proper exits were blocked off by trucks so I had to reverse back off the pumps and turn around to leave at the normal 'entry only' point on to the A40. Luckily it was quiet. The M5 was super smooth until 4 blue lighted police cars flew past and then made us all drive in a 30mph convoy for about half an hour. No idea why. Just before that we stopped at the services for a McDonald's and the receipt printer wasn't working so we had no idea what our queue number was. Luckily the staff worked it out based on our drinks choice.
In other news - it's my birthday! It warmed the cockles of my heart when the first happy birthday email I got was from our dental practice. We were going to go to Sam's in Fowey tonight for a birthday meal but I called them to book and they are closed for refurbishment until next week. Good job I already had the McDonald's treat!
It continues to be a funny sort of day. The caretaker for the apartment just called to apologise about there only being 3 dining chairs (we hadn't noticed). Apparently the last people broke one. She also explained that the internet would not be working as they had just had super fast broadband installed so it was a new router and password. The funny thing is, because we had been before, my phone and laptop have connected up to the old system, which is no longer here! Spooky or what.
