Went to visit a new old house today. The owners took great joy in showing us this very neatly made attic stair. It's stored vertically, hidden behind a secret door, and operated by the crank to the right. This releases a cord that allows it to slide out on little wheels till it stops against a check cut into the skirting ( in the extra). Very odd!
