Mottisfont House and gardens
Today we visited Mottisfont, a romantic house and gallery set in spectacular gardens.
It is near Romsey in Hampshire and is a National Trust property.
The walled rose gardens reached their peak of perfection today and were quite overwhelming.
I took dozens of images of so many roses and was baffled as to which one should be my chosen blip.
I have chosen this one with an armillary in the foreground.
As the sun moves across the sky, the gnomon (the arrow) casts a shadow on the equatorial engraved band and shows the time.
Adjusting for British Summer Time, it was very accurate
The image shows just some of the roses in the background against a beautifully textured wall
The gold rose attached to the armillary is also just perfect
Viewing it in large will show more detail.
