Stitch & Bitch
We've been to Polperro and Looe today using the Bodinnick car ferry we watch every day from our apartment in Fowey. We've had much better weather than forecast, mainly sunny, though with a few short sharp bouts of hail.
It was the first time back there since 2008. I revisited a shot of mrsfb sitting on the pier at Looe, identical in pose to one from 2008, but she won't let me post the images here.
The extra, Polperro, was going to be the main blip in honour of Joe Tree (the trees are on the hill in the background). We weren't that impressed with the village, most places were closed, and one pub was cash only because the storm the previous night had taken their internet down. The car park was cash only too, though at least there was a change machine.
We did have a nice lunch in The Three Pilchards, which is also where we went in 2008. Creatures of habit again. I have been ringing the changes with beers though. Today I had Doom Bar, yesterday it was Proper Job, Tribute the day before. A guy in the Lugger yesterday insisted on a half pint of Tetley's bitter by the way. Strange that they even had that on tap.
I couldn't resist the ladies for the main blip though. Looe was a bit more lively and interesting than Polperro, but still a lot of places were closed. We were looking for somewhere for an afternoon hot chocolate. I looked into a trendy looking café but decided it was full. The owner raced after us and said he had room for two, it was just that two of his 'stitch & bitch' ladies were taking up two tables, so he moved one of them to make room for us. There were 10 ladies there (the only other customers), including this group of 5 doing knitting and other crafty things. Mrsfb asked them if they would let me take their photo, 'as I had some photography friends who were into sewing, felting etc'. You know who you are!
