Monkey Puzzle (Araucaria araucana)
… tree, for JoeTreeDay 2024.
This is one of several monkey puzzle trees in Glasgow Botanic Gardens. The trees were introduced to the UK in 1795 by Scottish botanist Archibald Menzies who brought five seedlings back from Chile.
I had a walk around the gardens this morning in the cool sunshine on my way to Oran Mor (the spire in the background) for A Play, A Pie and a Pint, my first of the Spring season. The audience was packed but I found the play to be a bit silly and farcical, not to my taste. Never mind, there will be plenty others to see.
