A Rare Visitor
We had a very rare visitor to our feeders today. I can't remember having a Siskin (Carduelis spinus) on the feeder before. And we didn't have just one but a large flock, numbering at least 8 all coming into feed at the same time. Here are a male (right) and female (left), sharing the feeder. In fact they were there for so long most other birds didn't get a look in for a while.
They aren't particularly rare in the UK, but tend to only be seen in the winter in our area, possibly visitors from Europe looking to escape the coldest conditions..
