Green giant.

If you find Trunk's Close, a few yards up from John Knox's House in the High Street, and take a daunder down past the Cockburn Association's front door till you reach Sandeman House you will come to a rather nice garden space that was redesigned in 1996 in a contemporary style. Set within this space is this statue of Sir Patrick Geddes.

Geddes, born in Ballater, Aberdeenshire in 1854 was a man of many parts known for his innovative thinking in urban planning and sociology amongst many other things which you can read about here if you have the time.

The monument was unveiled in September 2012 to celebrate the life and work of Geddes and was sculpted by the Scottish artist Kenny Hunter

He may not be a jolly green giant and there are no frozen vegetables in sight, but the monument and garden are well worth a visit.
