The Finished Product

Here’s the garden bed that was begun a few days ago. It still needs to be flipped over and filled with dirt, but in this view you can see the gopher wire on the bottom and admire the construction. It’s a heavy thing, so we’ll have to wait til reinforcements appear.

We got crazy bursts of rain throughout the day, interspersed with sunny interludes. A smattering of hail, lightning and thunder—three things that don’t appear here very often—hit just as we were headed out to dinner. Tornado warnings south of us, several feet of snow predicted for the Sierras, accompanied by howling winds—I don’t think you could work many more weather words into the conversation if you tried.
