Bygone times

Well, last evening sent us a couple of cracking squalls.  We were sitting in our restaurant having supper when the wind hit, outside tables and chairs went flying, waitresses flying after them, everyone in the restaurant jumped and in a couple of minutes it was gone. The capriciousness  of the weather reminds us it is early Autumn here.
The old hotel we are staying in is listed as being the oldest licenced hotel in NZ,  an elegant, old, wooden building built in the early  days of European settlement, thankfully the  plumbing is a little more modern!
In extras a Moreton Bay fig planted in1860s, huge with a wonderfully characterful textured trunk.
