A little drone fly.....
....sipping nectar from the coreopsis flower, her wings glistening in the autumn sun.
My garden is slowly going to sleep, the cooler mornings have taken a toll. Dahlias are fading, roses looking a little scruffy, white echinacea flowers are on a lean the petals turning brown. On the other hand my sedum autumn joy is stunning, honey bees are frantically feasting and the lovely daisy-like yellow flowers of the coreopsis are providing a lovely splash of colour, japanese anemones gently nod in the breeze, colours of pale pink, white and cerise. Soon the aster will burst out with lovely lilac flowers with yellow centres, always a lovely display although doesn't last for very long as it seems to arrive in bad weather.
It's been a pleasant autumn day, little cool on the wrong side of the house but very warm in sheltered areas.
Happy Wednesday everyone :)
