My Moments in Time

By Doddy

From the Kitchen.

Raining and cold outside so I thought I would have a baking day today. Home made Coffee Cake and Banoffee Pie. Yum yum.

When I sit down to measure my life
on the kitchen stool in the middle of the night
I take two cupfuls of love from the pantry and
pour it in, pour it in.

I add three teaspoons of romance
and a dash of salt, and grate in
some strife and a few long walks
alone.
Plus two cupfuls of love from the pantry,
pour it in, pour it in.

In goes sunshine, in goes some rain,
five spoonfuls of joy and just an ounce of pain.
Then two cupfuls of love from the pantry,
pour it in, please, pour it in.

I mix it together in the big red bowl
and lick the spoon, but it's not quite whole.
In go two more cupfuls of love from the pantry,
pour it in, pour it in.

Love never goes stale and never grows old.
It's best when it's warm, never served cold.
I always keep some on hand, in the pantry, and
pour it in, pour it in.

The mixture is done, it tastes just right,
so I flip on the oven in the middle of the night
and bake, bake, bake, all the love that I have,
poured in, poured in.

It rises slowly but rises steady,
the scent is perfect and a little bit heady.
Like sunshine and cinnamon, like love,
poured in, poured in.

In the end when it's done and I've had my fun
I take a bite of my life and grin
and realize my life is just right, when you add
a little love from the pantry,
pour it in, pour it in.
