Terns

I got quite excited this morning to see a group of four Little Terns on Seven Mile Beach (top 2 photos). They are classed as endangered in our State, mainly because they breed on beaches, and many beaches are heavily used by humans.

The lower photo is of much more common Crested Terns, here an adult and juvenile. The chick was loudly telling its parent that it wanted food and wanted it right now. The parent was ignoring it.
