Well, at least its green...

We've had a lot of snow melting the last few days and it is good to see.  This is the brick walk leading to the front door (which no one uses), each brick lined with soft green moss. It is time to replace the walk, but I just love the moss, so it stays.  It made me wonder how it stays green all winter under a thick snow blanket.  They are really amazing plants.  It reminded me of the famous moss garden in Kyoto, Japan with over 120 varieties of moss.  No mowing, stays green all winter, sounds like the perfect "lawn" to me!  If you want to read about moss, here's a link...and here is a link to the lovely moss garden in Kyoto.
