Making a fat ball feeder

With one to one tuition. We met over in the community orchard and worked happily in the sunshine for a couple of hours.

L and her husband are an enthusiastic and enterprising young couple who have moved to Mull and will live and work on a croft. They have various plans and weaving baskets, fat ball feeders and other products is one way to earn a living either by offering classes or selling the finished product at local markets, galleries and Christmas Fayres.

It was pleasant to sit, just the two of us, in warm sunshine listening to birds and me muttering when a mistake appeared. L is very patient and good at giving instruction. The community orchard is a perfect place to be, to see all the work the volunteers have recently achieved. I felt lucky to sit in warm sunshine, admittedly wearing layers of clothing, to chat with this young woman.
