Day two of the deRSE conference. Had a good chat with a colleague from Mainz over breakfast about teaching. I have certainly got some more ideas of things I should be covering. After work I paid a quick visit to the grave of Walther von der Vogelweide, a 13th century poet. Lots of excellent talks and even more ideas. My main complaint about the conference is that I don't have the time to digest and properly write down all the stuff I have seen. Some guys from the Fraunhofer Institute had a rather cool demonstrator of a distributed edge computing system doing OCR of handwritten numerals. Also really enjoyed the poster session. Had some good chats and enjoyed the local beers on offer.
