Thursday

I had to call the CRT late yesterday afternoon because the pound at lock 34, on the Caen Hill flight, was near empty.

There were massive pike, or carp, floundering about in very shallow waters. And Heron were seemingly enjoying an all they could eat buffet.

I found a couple of fishermen (from Liverpool) further down the flight. They brought large nets in order to rescue the fish and transfer them into the next pound along.

This morning lock 34 was full and operational again. I went to the CRT office to see what had happened. Apparently 2 paddles had been left open so the water drained out. But I was thanked for making the call. My call being the first of several.

This morning, I saw a specialist about my problem. Apparently, it is something usually seen in boxers having had a head trauma. Once is very unusual. Twice is unheard of and to occur in me, who has never received a head injury, is rare. He found it fascinating. Glad one of us did.

Later, I recalled that I did whack my head and nearly drowned in Portugal in 1988. Martin, Liz's husband, saved my life.

I can't believe this is a repercussion of that!
