The chimney sweep came to our house for the annual cleaning. The result can be seen in the pictures: jackdaws tried to build their nest in the top of the chimney. They collect sticks and twigs and throw them into the chimney. They hope that a few are long enough to get stuck in it so they can then build their nest. The diameter of our chimney was too wide, but the chimney sweep told me that she had to remove two nests from other chimneys in the old part of the town. It took her two hours each and a lot of effort to do so. The nests can be very large. The jackdaws used to make their nests in the church tower, but after a renovation their old openings are closed up.
