Birthday Season

I’m not actually one of those people who goes in for protracted birthday celebrations but when your hometown decides to throw you a week-long party every year, including a long weekend, light festival and balloons every morning, what can you do?  Especially when it’s also the time of year for figs and visits from Luka Bloom.

Looks like this will be the last year we get a great view of the balloons (although I am planning to get up close and personal Monday morning).

* In point of fact, my hometown is actually celebrating its own birthday, on the second Monday of March,  and my own birthday usually falls sometime during the protracted celebrations (this year on the coming Wednesday)
