Exploring the southern end

Today's bike ride took us from Bowness across the ferry and southwards to join the West Windermere Way, a mainly off-road trail linking Lakeside YMCA and Newby Bridge.  The photo shows the track and the new Haverthwaite and and Lakeside bridge over the railway.  The long-term aim is for the trail to link to the Windermere West Shore Way from Ferry House to Wray Castle, which will be great.  Our route then took us over Chapel House Plantation and a couple of hills back to Ghyll Head and Bowness.
