do tsa

do tsa is the hummingbird kachina. It is considered to be the most joyful of all spiritual kachinas and is believed to bring joy and fun. A kachina is an ancestral spirit of the Pueblo Indians. The kachinas act as links between humans and gods, and there are more than 500 of these spririts. 
A shop in town used to import kachina dolls but closed a few years ago. I was looking through some placemats and found ones with an image of do tsa in the middle with other kachinas in the corners. I haven't used the placemats for a long time but I really like them. I know that a friend gave them to me, likely because of my interest in Indigenous cultures and love of hummingbirds.
